Young Rangers
Young Rangers has been running since August 2019 and the children that come along love spending time in our woodlands. These sessions are child led and although we have an idea of what we would like to do the kids choose the activities for sessions. We are lucky our members don't often ask for much, a few crafts activities, the odd party that cost us a little from our savings pot. If we could build the finances in the centre account it would mean we can offer better facilities, better activities and the odd few treats to the kids that enjoy just being around the centre. |
Experience Days
Come along for a day, or half a day and enjoy being a part of our daily routines. Learn about feeds, grooming and care for the horses, goats and sheep. Help maintain the land they live on, fixing fences, clearing the paddocks, filling hay nets. Complete risk assessments and health checks, take part in training with our herd using positive reinforcement and hand walk our goats out for fresh grass. The small donation for these days helps to support our food bills and veterinary treatment. |
Remembrance Wood
Dedicate a Tree Scheme We planted over 800 native saplings in our mini woodland in 2019. Visitors came to plant a tree and for a small donation of £3 they were dedicated to a loved one and everyone received a certificate and picture to take home and a wood burnt dedication message tag was attached to their sapling. We planned to have regular updates and photos of our woodland as it grew. Due to landowner changes this project needed to be relocated and all members were informed we were looking to bring the Remembrance Area closer to our Sensory Garden and Cabin space. These saplings have now been planted around the edge of our wild meadow area and people space so they are accessible to visit. There has been a delay on reworking the dedication tags as the harsh weather we have destroyed most but each sapling is numbered and starting to grow nicely in their new space. |
Agility Course
We have a few jumps, weave poles, ground poles and some home made activities to use as a course for our in hand sessions with the herd but having more can only make things better! Being able to have a full size pony tunnel, materials to build a stepping walkway and desensitising equipment would be amazing, we have balls, skittles and tyres here but the wood, tools and materials to make these into activities bring the prices up..... lets see what we can do together Cabin Fever
What a difference a cabin could make, our kids groups would have a dry warm space to work in on winter days. Our peer support group would have a space to take part in confidence and team building exercises. A dry place to chat and have a cuppa while watching our herd. We could have an office space to hold meetings (rather than my front room) and somewhere for visitors to sit and chat about what we can offer and achieve A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED We now have our container/cabin and will be looking to add decking, toilet and windows to make this space even better in 2022 |
